A c-section is a major surgery and its recovery unfortunately does not have a lot of support post-birth in hospital and at home. Being a new mom is overwhelming and then adding on top of it major surgery recovery is a lot! 

But you do not have to do it alone! The team at B3 is here for you! 

What is a c-section? 

C-section is a Cesarean Surgery performed during childbirth. 

What does a cesarean surgery entail? 

Cutting through skin, fascia, fat and separation of the muscular layer and then an incision in the uterine wall to expose the uterus. 

Then the incision of the uterine wall is stitched up, and the external incision of the skin, fascia and fat is stitched up. 

I know it is sounds like a lot! But as human’s and women our body can do amazing things! 

How long does rehabilitation take post-c section? 

Rehabilitation can take anywhere from 6-12 months post surgery. 

*REMEMBER this is MAJOR abdominal surgery! 

So don’t forget to be kind to yourself during this journey! 

What does rehabilitation look like post- c-section? 

Rehabilitation may include: 

  • Scar rehabilitation (desensitization, mobility work, compression, etc.) 
  • Mobility work often for the low back, hips, upper back 
  • Strengthening and retraining of the core, pelvic floor 
  • Internal pelvic physiotherapy if needed to release muscle tension or retrain pelvic floor strength
